Norcross, Campbell’s Soup Step-up to Bridge the Digital Divide in Camden

On July 12, 2020, in its editorial advocating that all school districts provide students with technology, the Star Ledger highlighted Camden, stating, “Camden, where only about 30 percent of students had Internet access and a device when schools shut down, has managed to do so, thanks to South Jersey powerbroker George Norcross, Campbell’s Soup and its own philanthropic organization, the Camden Education Fund.”  Subaru of North America and Townsend Press have also helped fund the purchase of laptops.

Corporations, philanthropists and non-profits funded the purchase of 1,500 laptops for high school students, at a cost of $400,000.
