The Cooper Foundation’s Home Improvement Program Makes Homes Safer for Camden Residents

In 2019, The Cooper Foundation and its non-profit housing partners, St. Joseph’s Carpenter Society and Camden County Habitat for Humanity, completed the rehabilitation of eight vacant single-family homes in the Cooper Plaza neighborhood – making them ready for homeownership. The work included restoring exterior facades, interior renovations, new roofs, replacement of mechanical systems along with new appliances, flooring and exterior improvements.

With St. Joseph’s Carpenter Society, the Foundation also completed home repairs for 27 residential homes in the Cooper Plaza neighborhood through its MyHome program. An additional round of repairs is currently underway to help 27 more homeowners.

The MyHome program preserves occupied homes by completing repairs that focus on safety. Improvements to roofs, electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling systems, and improve overall conditions of the interior and exterior making them safer living environments.
